Growing up, Eugenie Wong loved hearing stories passed down from her grandmother. She formed a love for storytelling, and she dreamed of one day telling her very own stories too.
“My parents would always tell me bedtime stories to help me fall asleep, and now that I’ve grown up, I’ve realized how many underlying messages were in those very stories,” Eugenie said. “Lessons that I’ve reflected on and utilized when I needed them. I wanted to give back something even more special to the next generation.”
Eugenie’s first book, Penny’s Day on the Farm, is about embracing new adventures and friendship – a lesson that Eugenie has learned herself. Her passion to give back to the next generation was inspired by giving back to the current one while spending the last two summers in Latin America and Africa volunteering with charities and orphanages.
Penny’s Day on the Farm, launched earlier this month, and within just a few days, it became an international best seller in the USA, UK, Brazil, Canada, France, Spain, Singapore, Japan and Australia. More of the book’s current stats include:

While Penny’s Day on the Farm was skyrocketing up the charts, local author, Eugenie, spent her time studying for final exams as her school year wrapped up.
“It’s surreal to think about,” she said. “I had no idea how successful this book would be. It was a fun project I started with my dad in my spare time, and we ended up creating a whole series of books. I’m excited to see where the series continues to take me, and I’m so grateful for all of the support.”
Penny’s Day on the Farm is the first book in a series calledThe Adventures of Pierre and Penny LePockets. The series will debut with another book later this year written by her dad, James-Scott Wong. Both Eugenie and James-Scott share a passion for crafting stories that are enjoyable to read with enduring values as an underlying message.
This is just the start for Eugenie Wong as she has committed to donating a percentage of her book profits to certain charities, and she will also continue her volunteer work again this summer in Africa focusing on conservation efforts.
